PAILAS section: This circular route around 5 km, is one of the easiest in the park. To follow it, follow the green beacons between the dry forest and the humid forest. Along the trail you will be able to observe the volcanic formations and activities of Rincón de la Vieja. Among them you will be able to see fumaroles, mud pans, water pans, fumarolic lagoons and volcanoes. These formations have temperatures that vary between 78 °C - 106 °C so it is very important to respect safety regulations and stay on the trail.
LA CANCREJA section:Head out on this 9.5-km out-and-back trail Generally considered a moderately challenging route, it takes an average of 2 h 49 min to complete. This is a very popular area for birding and hiking, so you'll likely encounter other people while exploring. The best times to visit this trail are December through February. You'll need to leave pups at home — dogs aren't allowed on this trail.This trail is rocky and parts are steep, especially the end towards the falls, definitely needed sturdy footwear. The falls are very pretty but swimming in them is prohibited. T and during the rainy season (May-November) access may be regulated by the administration of the sector.
